Over a year ago I decided, rather, my wife insisted, that I explore the use of hearing aids to mitigate a problem that became increasingly evident, another of the unheralded benefits of aging. It soon became obvious that this whole business of dealing with a condition that affects a significant segment of the aging population was mostly that—business. I found it extremely difficult to obtain detailed technical information on commercially advertised hearing aids and began to distrust the results of hearing tests performed by employees or franchisees of a particular aid manufacturer. It was a business of exaggerated claims, a good deal of hype and grossly inflated prices. I brought these observations up in a conversation with a good friend, a retired physician and physicist, whose experience had been similar to mine. He mentioned your company to me because, in his opinion, the ability to adjust the response of one’s hearing aids via a hardware module and computer program was a distinct benefit. I now am using your RITE2-167 aids after trying CIC units that worked quite well but were not the right units for my particular loss profile. My interactions with your company have been pleasant and productive and I am indebted to the very competent and responsive service provided by one of your staff audiologists, Ms. Susan Homitz. I have and will continue to recommend your company to anyone who seeks my advice on this subject.
Sincerely, |
