America Hears:: Digital hearing Aids

Buying hearing aids from any source, including America Hears, requires that a process be followed. Here's a step-by-step look at How-To-Buy. Click on each step for more details.

1] Contact Us:

Call toll-free at 1-800-492-4515. We'll walk you through the entire process.

2] See A Physician:

Federal and state laws require a complete audiogram for the sale of all hearing aid devices. Not only is it the law, but it is in your best interest to do so. A complete audiogram enables us to program your instruments to most closely match your individual hearing requirements.

A complete audiogram consists of the following values: Pure Tone Air Conduction, Bone Conduction, Speech Reception Threshold, and Speech Discrimination. To validate your audiogram, it must list your name, the name of the person testing your hearing and the date of the test.
It is also important to note that legally, audiograms are only valid for 6 months from the date of testing.

If you have been to an Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) physician in the past 6 months, simply send us a copy of your hearing test and proceed to Step 4. If not, see an ENT or your family physician. They will conduct a full exam to insure there are no underlying medical conditions that need to be addressed. The physician will then have an audiologist conduct a hearing test/Audiogram.

3] Send Us Your Hearing Test:

Fax, Email or Mail a copy of your hearing test/Audiogram to America Hears. Under federally mandated HIPAA regulations, health care providers must provide you with certain copies of certain documents upon request, including hearing tests/Audiograms. Federal HIPAA Consumer Rights Summary (PDF)

A full audiogram includes:
Air conduction scores the standard frequencies are 250Hz – 8000Hz
Bone conduction scores
UCL (Uncomfortable Level)
MCL (Most Comfortable Level)
SRT (Speech Reception Threshold)
Speech Discrimination Scores
An Audiogram should be signed and dated by the tester
Your audiogram must be no more than 6 months old

4] We'll Review Your Hearing Loss:

An America Hears professional will review the hearing test/Audiogram. We will contact you to discuss which hearing aid model is best suited to your individual hearing needs.

We will Fax or Email you Medical Questionnaire/Waiver and HIPPA/Privacy forms for you to complete and send back to us or you can download this information by clicking here.

5] Make Earmold Impressions:

(Not needed for SIE or OF products)

America Hears will provide you with our Free Ear Mold Impression Kit or open Fit ear measurement card. The Kit contains detailed instructions on how to make ear molds and even comes with Free Pre-Paid express shipping. Our Ear Mold Impression Kit is easy to use and completely Free! See also:

The Open Fit ear measurement card is easy to use and will help you to order the correct size tube for the Open Fit hearing aids.

6] We'll Build & Ship Your Hearing Aids:

We can now custom build and custom pre-program your new hearing aids to address your specific hearing loss. This process usually takes 2-5 days. Your new hearing aids and our Free Accessory Kit will then arrive via express mail at your home with detailed instructions. Call us toll-free or email us with any questions!
